서해 공무원 피격 은폐의혹과 관련해 서욱 전 국방부 장관과 김홍희 전 해양경찰청장이 구속됐습니다.
서 전 장관은 공무원인 고 이대준씨가 2020년 9월 자진 월북했다는 정부 주장과 배치되는 군사기밀을 군사정보통합처리체계 등에서 삭제하고 은폐한 혐의(직권남용)를 받고 있습니다. 김 전 청장은 이씨가 월북한 것으로 발표하기 위해 확인되지 않은 증거를 들거나 기존 증거를 은폐한 혐의(직권남용·허위 공문서 작성)를 받아 왔습니다.
김상우 서울중앙지법 영장전담 부장판사는 어제(지난 21일) 영장실질심사를 거쳐 22일 새벽 서 전 장관과 김 전 장관에 대한 구속영장을 발부했습니다.
김 부장판사는 서 전 장관과 김 전 청장이 증거인멸과 도망할 염려가 있다고 영장 발부 이유를 밝혔습니다.
법원이 검찰이 청구한 영장을 모두 발부하면서 더 윗선을 향한 수사가 속도를 낼 것으로 보입니다.
검찰은 두 사람의 신병을 확보한 뒤 서훈 전 국가안보실장, 박지원 전 국정원장에 대한 수사에 적극 나설 것으로 알려졌습니다.
